Fiber to the Library | Internal Connections
Project Completed: Fiber to the Library | Internal Connections (FTTL-IC)
The CT State Library partnered with CEN and Novus Insight to improve internal network connections for Connecticut’s primary libraries in support of digital access and inclusion. CEN’s public-private approach helped local libraries maximize their internet and network-based experiences by assessing, remediating, and upgrading internal connections within their network infrastructure. Many local area networks (LAN) and wireless LANs (WLAN or WiFi Networks) benefited from equipment and associated infrastructure upgrades within their buildings, as observed during the CLFC (Connecticut Libraries Fiber Consortium) fiber projects. These efforts contributed to building an infrastructure plan for the future to support operations, patron use, and efforts to bridge the digital divide in our communities.
Eligibility Details: Only principal public libraries were eligible to apply. To be considered, libraries were required to have established end-to-end connectivity to a CEN-supported site on the network. Libraries that accessed the network through town halls or other municipal sites via the PSDN were not eligible.
