Community Wireless (Wi-Fi) Grant Program
The Community Wireless (Wi-Fi) Grant Program, will build and expand on the statewide wireless deployments successes of the 2021 - 2022 Everybody Learns Initiative, by offering municipal entities the opportunity to build wireless Internet access services in their communities. Phase 2 will target underserved and economically disadvantaged groups and communities of color. This project will be managed utilizing a grant structure allowing community entities to partner and propose solutions utilizing CEN as their Internet provider.
Project Objectives
Expand high quality wireless Internet access to Connecticut citizens by targeting communities in need and leveraging existing infrastructure
Encourage municipal partnerships between schools, libraries, and municipal service providers (e.g. senior centers)
Directly support recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency by strengthening and improving the infrastructure necessary for participation in work, education, and health monitoring that will last beyond the pandemic
Ensure sustainability of solutions by requiring assurances that applicants will fund the wireless service after the funding period ends
